At The Dogs' Spot we teach people how to train their dogs to behave politely using methods advocated by behaviorists. These methods are dog and people friendly and are based on teaching dogs what we want and rewarding them for it. We offer group classes in family manners and puppy socialization as well as many specialty classes such as agility, rally obedience, and more. For more individual attention or behavioral issues, we also offer private consultations in our facility or your home. Come find out why "The Dogs' Spot is the community spot for dogs and the people who love them!"
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became interested in dog training after I adopted a dog that developed behavioral problems. I am now a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and a graduate of the prestigious Karen Pryor Academy of Animal Training and Behavior. In addition, I serve as a staff member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers annual educational conference, considered the premier conference of it's kind.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
There is a lot of research currently being conducted in the field of canine behavior and cognition. At The Dogs' Spot we stay abreast of the latest developments to provide our clients with the most recent information to help them live better with their dogs. We do not rely on the outdate compulsion based methods of the past, but on the science based reinforcemnt based methods advocated by those in the field of animal behavior. Many trainers say they are positive reinforcement trainers, but few really are. If your trainer uses methods that are painful or create fear in your dog, they are not positive reinforcement trainers.
